Why proper nutrition is important:
A proper diet is the key to
achieving physical fitness. While you can build
muscle and reduce fat simply by establishing a
vigorous exercise program, you will see much
faster results if you adjust your diet to take
in what your body needs to build muscle and
provide energy. A diet high in protein rich
foods, fruits, and vegetables will make a
tremendous difference in your ability to grow
your muscles while reducing your need to simply
burn excess calories.
In addition, a proper diet
has been shown to vastly reduce the possibility
of certain cancers and cardiovascular disease.
According to the American Academy of Family
Physicians, the food we eat can effect the way
blood flows through your heart and arteries. A
diet high in fat and cholesterol can gradually
cause a buildup (called “plaque”) in your
arteries. That buildup slows down the blood flow
and blocks small arteries. If the blockage
happens in an artery that carries blood to the
heart muscle, a heart attack can occur. If the
blockage happens in an artery that carries blood
to the brain, a stroke can occur.
The right diet helps keep
your arteries clear and reduces the risk of
heart problems and stroke. The right diet can
also help maintain a healthy weight and give you
enough energy for your daily activities.
